TEC Chair David W. Rubin has often been referred to as “the CEO’s best friend,” acting as trusted counsel in a confidential setting to openly discuss the issues that many business leaders are faced with. David believes that those who have a trusted advisor, who is prepared to tell the truth and hold accountability, can often make the difference between achieving success over failure.
With over 15 years of experience as a leadership coach and trusted advisor, David is passionate about helping CEOs and professionals overcome obstacles and accomplish extraordinary results thanks to his critical thinking and solid judgment.
David is also the founder and principle of Rubin & Associates Inc., a successful leadership development and executive coaching firm helping executives, professionals and their teams improve leadership performance, increase productivity and manage change.
Prior to opening his firm in 1995, David practiced law for several years where he gained extensive leadership experience as President, Chair, COO and Vice President in business and health care.
David is acknowledged for his consistent ability to build trust and earn a receptive ear from all stakeholders. He is also called upon to facilitate durable solutions to both operational and (difficult) interpersonal issues. He is committed to doing what is right for his clients, even at the risk of losing the client’s business.
As an expert in transition management, David has successfully helped organizations through the art and science of transformation. He has worked with internationally renowned US consultant William Bridges, author of the best selling business book, Transitions.
In 2004, David added health care consulting as a new priority. His recommendations are currently being implemented. He added to his hands-on health care experience when he was asked to fill a leadership role at a large community hospital, pending the hiring of a full-time replacement.
David holds a bachelor of commerce degree from St. Mary’s University, as well as a degree in law from Dalhousie Law School.
Taking on an active leadership role in his community, David is serving his fourth term as the Vice-Chair of the Vaughan Community Health Centre Board (VCHC). The VCHC helps its 3,500 clients remove barriers to accessing health care services.
