Joff Grohne
Joff Grohne is by nature an entrepreneur and has enjoyed his involvement with the dynamics of “business” during his wide-ranging and rewarding career.
Today, he works with business leaders and key executives helping them to get where they want to be. His energy, keen insight and practical experiences together with his good listening skills make him an effective partner in dialogue. He is very creative in exploring, together with his clients, their issues and opportunities.
Joff was born, raised and educated in Germany. He worked in Brussels, Munich and Dublin before immigrating to Canada in 1970. A year later, together with his brother, he founded Karo Design Vancouver, a design, marketing and communications company.
Following the success of Karo in Vancouver, Joff launched Karo Design Calgary in 1976. In the nineties, Joff sold his interest in both companies to senior staff members and facilitated the ownership transition in his role as Chairman until his retirement in 2001. Joff Grohne has been a passionate TEC Chair since 1996 and runs a successful group of 15 business leaders. On average his members have been with his group for more than six years. During his tenure, Joff has been recognized four times for his Chair Excellence and was honored in 2005 to receive, as the first Canadian TEC Chair, the prestigious Robert Nourse Award.
His previous volunteer positions included that of a Governor of the Vancouver Playhouse Theater, Chairman of the Advisory Committee, BCIT, School of Business (Marketing & Sales), Teaching Resource for the Junior Achievement of Canada and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Bowen Island Fire Protection District.
Joff is married to Patricia and is a happy father of three grown up sons. He enjoys his work and is a life long learner.
