Ken Larson
Ken’s professional mission is to “facilitate personal and professional high performance by inspiring the champion in all of us through sharing his energy, experience and enthusiasm”. His approach to being a TEC Chair is based on his core belief that the wisdom is within; it just may require a little coaxing once in awhile.
TEC group sessions with Ken are fast-paced, highly engaging and continually produce tangible results for all involved. He has a strong ability to sense the energy of the group and to draw out the MAGIC for each and every member. His passion and compassion for the TEC process is only surpassed by his love for the one-to-one component, “where the rubber hits the road”. Ken prepares for each and every encounter with TEC members according to his personal mantra: “There is no place I would rather be than right here, right now, with YOU!”
Having joined the TEC Family in May of 2008, Ken is the Chair of three TEC groups, including CEO, KEY and Trusted Advisor groups. He brings to the table 25 years of education, administration and business experience, and he has provided coaching and consulting to over 300 organizational clients and over 200 executives from all areas of the business arena.
Ken is currently the President of Champion Performance Systems Inc., a company specializing in leading professionals, teams, and organizations in achieving human high performance in career, business, and life.
He started his career as a basketball player, winning two National Championships at the University of Victoria and then traveled the world for four years as a member of the Canadian National Team. After nine knee surgeries, Ken transitioned from athlete to coach, to college athletic administrator, to business owner as a high performance expert as an executive coach, consultant, trainer and keynote speaker.
Ken holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Performance from the University of Victoria, a Masters Degree in Performance Psychology from the University of Alberta, and is a Certified Executive Coach (Royal Roads University). He is a Certified Facilitator with Franklin Covey Canada, and a Certified Facilitator and Coach with The Thomas Concept (communication platform). As a volunteer, Ken is the Past President of Basketball Alberta and the Co-Founder of the HSBC Classic, a high profile high school basketball tournament in Calgary benefitting over 1,000 participants each year.
Ken and his 17-year old daughter Nicole live in Calgary, Alberta. His core values are (in order of priority): health, connection, excellence, contribution and freedom. He enjoys reading, personal and professional growth, meaningful conversation, music that moves the soul, food that stimulates the mind and body, and he is an avid bodybuilder.
