Michael Gerbis
Michael is responsible for overseeing the growth and strategic direction of The Delphi Group, including all aspects of business and financial planning, human resource development, communications and operational systems integration. Michael also provides strategic advice and insight to clients and project teams across Delphi's key service areas - GHG management, corporate sustainability, market intelligence and policy, as well as program design.
Since taking over the company in 2006, Michael and the team have doubled the revenue and made a successful transition into the private sector. Prior to this, Delphi did 85 percent of its business with the public sector. As of 2009, Delphi has done more than 75 percent with the private sector. It's corporate clients combined now represent more than 20 percent of Canada’s GDP and include seven of the top 15 corporations.
Prior to joining Delphi, Michael owned and operated a successful environmental engineering consulting firm, which focused on developing and implementing corporate pollution prevention strategies.
Michael is actively involved in the community coaching hockey and soccer, actively educating youth through SHAD Valley International (www.shad.ca), and regular presentations to university and high school students around the country on issues such as climate change, clean energy and sustainable development. Michael was the founder of the Emerging Leaders Forum, and founding President of The Climate Project – Canada (www.theclimateproject.ca), a not-for-profit group devoted to raising awareness in Canada about climate change. Michael is also on the Advisory Committee Member for Alquonquin College's Green Business Management program and a former board member of the Ottawa Chapter of Young Environmental Professionals (www.yep.ca).
Michael enjoys running, playing hockey and golf, and experiencing what the world has to offer with his wife Deb and his two boys, Thomas and Kieran.
