Phil Paxton
Phil has been with TEC Canada since 1997. After almost six years of membership, he took on the role of Chair of TEC 216 in 2003, successfully leading until 2007 when he became a contributing member of the same group. Phil is the President and CEO of Bablake Ltd. and The Alpha Better Group.
Companies within TEC 216 are involved in manufacturing, commercial landscape construction, wholesale nursery production and high-end residential landscape design and construction. During his 20-year entrepreneurial career, Phil has started and grown five businesses, all of which continue to prosper in the Calgary area. Phil has also chaired apprenticeship and certification committees in Alberta and for the Prairie provinces. His approach to business has been characterized by the selection of excellent teams and individuals to lead his organizations.
Phil’s athletic interests include rugby, soccer, sailing and skiing. He is an acknowledged leader in these areas, particularly known for playing competitive rugby at the provincial level and coaching rugby, soccer, skiing and sailing. He has enjoyed his work with young people, leading several groups of rugby players on international tours. He is past president of the Canadian Irish Athletic Club.
Recent epic adventures include: a year long voyage in the South Pacific on a 14-metre sail boat with his wife and children, a previous crossing of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, and a ski tour of the world-famous Haute Route from Chamonix, France to Zermatt, Switzerland with members of his family. Phil received his formal education and law degree in England. He has worked in Alberta for 24 years, and lives near Calgary with his wife Pauline and their five children.
