Are You Ready For the Most Rewarding Work You’ll Ever Do?

Before becoming a TEC Chair, I experienced TEC Canada’s impact on an organization firsthand. Many years ago – when I was the Financial Controller of a successful manufacturing company – the CEO and Production Manager were both TEC Canada members. The result of this was an exceptional organization that had TEC’s impact extended through every facet of the company, and results that were achieved by leading with excellence.

Fast-forwarding to a few years later, when I was enrolled in the Executive Coaching program at Royal Roads University, I reached out to TEC to find out if there was an opportunity to be an executive coach for their membership of Canadian business leaders. After meeting with several people within the organization, I knew that launching a TEC Canada Chair Practice would provide both meaningful and financially rewarding work. When I launched my first TEC group, I instantly felt the impact I was having –  in the form of driving business development, networking to find prospects, and connecting my members to the right people to aid their success.

I tell people that becoming a TEC Canada Chair is a privilege. I can’t imagine any other role that would provide the opportunity to be myself and have this degree of impact. My colleagues in the Chair community come from rich, diverse business backgrounds. We collaborate, challenge each other, and support one another – much like the experience that our members receive. TEC Chairs also receive ongoing leadership training and support from TEC Canada leadership and staff. As an organization, TEC is dedicated to increasing the effectiveness and enhancing the lives of chief executives and Canadian business leaders – which is precisely how I want to spend this chapter of my career.

The leaders that are in the three groups that I Chair are incredibly open, honest, and able to be very real in our one-to-one sessions – as well as in our confidential group meetings.  To be part of these very personal and delicate situations, while helping to personally and professionally support my members is remarkable and rewarding, to say the least.

If you come from a background in business, are interested in creating value while working with Canadian Business leaders, then TEC is the place for you. I recommend becoming a TEC Chair because as I hear time and time again from my fellow Chairs, “this is the most rewarding work you will ever do.”
