Bill Bagshaw
Chair
"Focal" Customer Development Inc.
Bill believes that the TEC Community is exceptional because its members and Chairs possess the willingness and courage to create change. The success of his own group members and his relationships with Chairs around the world continue to fuel his 15-year passion for being a TEC Chair and reinforce his view that TEC is the ideal format to accomplish personal and professional development.
As a consultant and Chair, Bill assists his clients and TEC group members to overcome their biggest challenges in marketing. His goal is to develop stronger brand potency by eliminating ineffective generic messages and getting to the essence of an organization to create a precise core message. He works with companies to determine the changing perceptions, needs and feelings of their end-customers and to match those values to the company’s strengths. This approach is designed to create in-depth insights that will lead to greater emotional impact on customers for more sustained results and efficiency while facilitating marketing, selling and client service and monitoring. This effective process evolved through the results created by his company, Focal Customer Development Inc.
Earlier in his career, Bill helped to launch a major radio and television station and was the first publisher of the Edmonton Daily and Sunday Sun. In 1979, he established his own leadership development consultancy. Through his consulting work with a variety of organizations, Bill has gained considerable experience particularly with internal and external communication challenges.
Bill’s experience includes working in the trenches with countless organizations of all types and sizes including many volunteer organizations. He has assumed numerous roles over the years, all of which embody his leadership contributions in the community as well as in business. His participation includes positions as Chairman of the United Way, Vice President of the XI Commonwealth Games, National Coordinator of the Kinsman Club and the President of the Klondike Association. Bill has also successfully chaired several, highly contested public plebiscites for the City of Edmonton.
Bill graduated from the University of Alberta’s Advanced Management Program and from the inaugural class of the University of Arizona’s Services Marketing Institute. He has been honored as a lifetime member of the Institute of Certified Management Consultants (CMC)
